One Step Closer Animal Rescue, Inc. (O.S.C.A.R.) is a non-profit rescue organization based in Sparta, New Jersey, dedicated to saving dogs from desperate situations. We rescue dogs from overcrowded shelters where animals face euthanasia due to lack of space, giving them the loving care, proper veterinary attention, vaccinations, and spay/neuter services they deserve, so they can find the forever homes they’ve always needed.
Beyond rescue, O.S.C.A.R. is committed to serving our local community. We assist with stray dogs, support re-homing efforts, and accept intake cases from the NJ SPCA involving animal abuse. While we do not rescue cats, we are strong advocates for responsible feral cat population management and public health, which is why we proudly operate a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program for feral cat colonies in our area.
We believe in working alongside our community because every animal deserves a chance. Now and always.

O.S.C.A.R. will continue to do everything we can to make a difference in the animals’ lives that we rescue. It is beyond heart breaking to have to make these hard decisions. We take comfort in knowing we are doing everything we possibly can.
